1. Can I retrofit my filter plates to Leaktite?
If your filter plates are of caulked type thus having a groove you can retrofit them to Leaktite. Otherwise we recommend you to purchase new Leaktite filter plates, so you can benefit from their full potential.

2. Will Leaktite filter cloths be much more expensive than the ones I use right now?
What you used to pay for your filter cloths and what weíll charge for Leaktite filter cloths can be either more or less. Pricing of filter cloths depends on many different parameters, like fabric style, roll width, cloth finish, reinforcements, purchase quantity and logistics. Donít forget that what you pay your cloth supplier is certainly just a part of your total cost of ownership.

3. Will Leaktite filter cloths last longer than the ones I use right now?
The life time of your filter cloths depends not only on the filter cloths themselves, but also on your filter plate design, the product you filter and how you operate your filter press and maintain all process equipment. We experience that Leaktite cloths have many advantages compared to standard ones. They are designed not to leak, thus preventing premature cloth failure at areas like sealing edges, slurry feed inlets and filtrate outlets. We can not guarantee they will last longer, but itís likely to be so.

4. Why should I convert my plates and cloths to Leaktite if the ones I have donít leak at all?
Good news you havenít experienced any leakages so far. Some day your plates and certainly your cloths will need to be replaced. Please consider why a change over is required and what the life time of you consumables has been. If one of the reasons was a plate and/or cloth defect causing leakages, let us show you how to optimise your filter.

5. Is Leaktite available for my filter press too?
We currently supply Leaktite for filter plates from 470mmsq up to 2,500mmsq. If you have an odd size filter plate, do not hesitate to contact us.

6. Can I have my current filter cloth style as Leaktite?
Please provide us with the name of your cloth supplier and their cloth style. As we cooperate with many filter cloth suppliers, we can check almost instantly for you if you can have your preferred cloth style as Leaktite.

7. Are Leaktite filter cloths available with a barrel feed neck?

10. Will their be any chance the Leaktite-gasket detaches itself spontaneously out of the groove?
We have done extensive test work to assess the quality of our product. Our customers confirmed that all Leaktite cloths have remained in place so far. We can now clearly make a solid statement that itís more likely your filter fabric will fail prior to the Leaktite gasket being forced out of the groove.

11. Do I need special tools to fit a Leaktite filter cloth?
You do not necessarily need special tools, but our Auto Hammer and Lubepen are recommended. A Lubepen is used to lubricate the groove edges to make the gasket slip into the groove easier. The Auto Hammer Ė a pneumatic hand held tool - makes caulking of cloths both quicker and easier. To remove the cloth from the plate, pull one of the tabs with a pair of tongs. It should not take any longer than a few seconds to completely remove the cloth from the plate.

12. How much time will I save fitting a Leaktite cloth compared to a barrel feed neck one?
Depending on the cloth size it will take a trained operator using an Auto Hammer anything between 1 and 3 minutes to fit Leaktite cloths on both sides of the plate.

13. How much time will I save removing a Leaktite cloth compared to a barrel feed neck one?
Depending on the cloth size it will take a trained operator a few seconds to remove Leaktite cloths on both sides of the plate.

14. Can I fit a Leaktite cloth without taking the filter plate out of the filter press?
Yes you can, unless you canít reach out to the plate with your hand to caulk it in.

15. Can a Leaktite cloth be jet cleaned without taking the filter plate out of the filter press?
Yes you can, but beware that part of the jet water might get trapped behind the fabric and requires some time to drain through the filtrate outlet ports. Or you can decide to have a Leaktite cloth with a rapid drainage facility. In case you have an automated cloth washing unit, we strongly recommend this Leaktite-feature.

16. Can a set of Leaktite cloths be cleaned by means of Cleaning-In-Place (CIP)?
Yes you can. Just remove the filter cake as good as it gets, then close the plate pack and fill the chambers up with a suitable cleaning agent. Leave it for a while to soak and drain it all afterwards. In case youíre not sure if the cleaning agent is harmless to your filter, do not hesitate to contact us.

17. If I purchase a set of Leaktite filter plates, will I always have to purchase Leaktite filter cloths?
You are never tied to us, as you can always convert your Leaktite filter plate to a standard one. Just buy a set of Leaktite gaskets and fill up the grooves. Your filter plate will now be able to accept the filter cloths previously used. Thatís what we call the dual plate design. If you want to use Leaktite-filter cloths again, simply remove the gaskets.

18. Whatís the maximum working temperature a Leaktite cloth can operate at?
As Leaktite gaskets are compatible with the fabric you use, itís basically the fabric that determines your temperature limits.

19. How do I know if a Leaktite cloth is chemical compatible with the product I want to filter?
As Leaktite gaskets are compatible with the fabric you use, itís basically the fabric that determines your chemical resistance. Please contact us in case you have any questions.

The genuine Leaktite system requires one off cloth design for all your plates in the pack, whether thatíll be cloths for head, intermediate membrane, standard recessed or end plates.

Leaktite corner feed design does not necessarily require clamping unions.
